We have been working hard on identifying the characters and setting in every story we read. These are our anchor posters for the class.

Here they are in case you want to practice at home! I wish I could take credit for them, but I found them online a few years ago :)
1- Start at the top and down we run, that's the way you make a one! 2- Around and back on the railroad track, two two! 3- Around the tree, around the tree, that's the way you make a three! 4- Down and over, down some more, that's the way you make a four! 5- Fat old five goes down, and around, put a hat on him and see what you've found 6- Down to a loop, number six rolls a hoop 7- Across the sky and down from Heaven, that's the way you make a seven. 8- Make an "s" but do not wait, when you get back you have an eight 9- Make a circle and then a line, that's the way you make a nine! Your kiddos may have mentioned a new name to you this week...our student teacher, Miss Ali started on Monday morning! She is already doing a fantastic job with the kids and the kids really adore her! We are so happy to have Mrs. Ali with us for 8 weeks, she is a huge help!
As soon as I get all webpage permission forms back, I hope to begin posting some classroom pics featuring our sweet 24 kid pirates! I don't want to post without written permission, but hopefully the office will have those forms counted and ready for us soon (this paper was included in the HUGE stack of papers you got to fill out at the beginning of the school year). We hope you are having a great week! We earned 3 horseshoes this week, ALREADY! A class can earn a horseshoe for *EXCEPTIONAL* behavior. I couldn't be more proud of the kids and the hard work they do daily in here!!!! Blessings from 101, Ms. Melissa It is so hard to believe that we are about to complete our FIRST full week of school! The kids have been working so hard on learning all the class rules and procedures. I am so proud! We have made leaps and bounds since the first day. I have really enjoyed getting to know all of them, and watching them interact with one another and form friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime!
Starting the Class Dojo was new to me this year, and the kids really LOVE saying "Good Morning" to their monsters every morning, and trying to earn good points for them! It's been a learning process but I think it will be really beneficial. Our morning learning time is going SO well!! We have even *almost* mastered center rotation! Each morning we do 4 literacy centers (2 teacher led, and 2 student led). After 2 days, the kids are really starting to pick up on it! This is my favorite time of the day, because I get to work with a smaller amount of students at one time and really get to know each child individually! I'm anxious/excited to begin our reading series (Scott Foresman Reading Street) and our math series (Envisions Math) next week!!!!! We also do our Kindergarten Brigance Screen on each child next Monday, which will be a great starting point for the rest of the years learning! :) Blessings from my house :) Ms. Melissa |
